AROTIN & SERGHEI
INTERMEDIAL PAINTING
Reminescent of Malevitch’s Black Square, but at the other end of the spectrum, WHITE SCREEN is the perfect example of the fictitious nature of white as a colour. When all the red, green and blue cells that create the pixels on an LCD screen are illuminated, our visually stimulated brains perceive a white coulor. But this white colour is only created from the sum of all the information.

Combining contemporary techniques and materials with the painting gestus, the FUSION PAINTINGS introduce the viewer into worlds of cells in permanent vibration, fusion and fission. Each painting is an unique and unreproducible creation realized in a system of superposed levels, alternating technical and manual processes on layers of Polyethylene equipped with optical selectors. Its aspect changes depending on the viewer’s position.
WHITE POINT is a fictious inversed vanishing point formed by color cells that would melt and appear white from a far distance of approximative 1 kilometer. In this way the painting generates more inner space than the existing one. Each painting shows a different cellular order and represents a different extract of white. In continuation of this process GOLDEN POINT and CRAZY CELLS are inventing the components of gold and radiance.
